Scunthorpe Recovery Service
We are a Lived Experience Recovery Service.
Everyone who works or volunteers with us has direct lived experience of addiction and recovery.
If you are looking for support around drug, alcohol or gambling addiction – we would love to hear from you.
Our services are free and confidential, everything we do is tailored to your specific needs and circumstances. We provide one-to-one appointments, recovery support, groups, workshops, personal development opportunities, volunteering pathways and connection to the wider recovery community.
Whether you are taking your first steps, rebuilding routine, or looking for new opportunities to move forward, Scunthorpe Recovery Service offers a place where recovery can grow and flourish through connection, purpose and support.
● About
Who are we?
A welcoming recovery community based in Scunthorpe, serving North Lincolnshire, we work in partnership with WithYou treatment services.
We know people come to us for different reasons. Some want direct recovery support. Some want meaningful activity and structure. Some want to reconnect with others in a safe and positive environment. Some want to build confidence and explore their next steps in volunteering, training or employment.
We offer a broad range of recovery-focused support, group activities, workshops, one-off sessions, training opportunities and volunteering pathways. Our aim is to provide a safe and supportive space where people can strengthen recovery, build confidence, develop routine, connect with others and move towards healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Scunthorpe Recovery Service is part of Double Impact, a charity that supports people affected by addiction across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Established in 1998 Double Impact’s commitment to recovery, independence and wellbeing is reflected in the work we do here in North Lincolnshire.
Membership
Becoming a member
Scunthorpe Recovery Service is a membership-led project. That means people who want to access our support can become a member through a simple sign-up process and start getting involved in the opportunities available.
Membership is free and gives access to the support, groups, activities and opportunities on offer.
The only requirement for membership is a commitment to be or become abstinent. People can still be in treatment services while becoming part of the project. If you are not sure whether the service is right for you, we encourage you to get in touch, or come in and have a conversation with us.
Support
At Scunthorpe Recovery Service, support is about more than simply attending a session. It is about helping people build recovery into everyday life.
Our support includes recovery groups, community connection, peer support, workshops, one-off activities, training opportunities, volunteering pathways and links into external mutual aid. All our programmes have been developed by people who themselves have gone through treatment and recovery services.
Some people come to us for support and understanding. Some want routine and connection. Some want to grow in confidence and explore what comes next. Some want to build skills that could lead into volunteering or employment. We understand that recovery is different for everyone, and we aim to offer a service that feels welcoming, practical and full of hope.
Recovery support that meets people where they are
News and timetable
Our Weekly Programme
We offer a wide range of groups, workshops and activities across the week, with opportunities available seven days a week.
Our timetable includes; peer support groups, structured recovery sessions, wellbeing activities, training opportunities and access to mutual aid. Some sessions take place at the project, while others are available in community locations and online.
You can pick and mix which groups and activities you attend or combine sessions to create your own personalised support package.
Whether you are looking for regular support, something to build your week around, or opportunities to develop new skills and confidence, there is always something available for everyone.
Recovery Day Programme
Our Recovery Day Programme is open to anyone who wants to engage with the service and take positive steps forward in their recovery.
The programme runs throughout the week and gives people the opportunity to build structure, routine and connection as part of everyday life. It is designed to support people at all stages of recovery, whether you are just starting out or looking to strengthen what you already have in place.
From our experience, the people who get the most out of the service are those who make a commitment to attend regularly. Showing up each day, getting involved, and being part of the community can make a real difference. It helps to build consistency, create purpose and strengthen recovery over time.
The Recovery Day Programme is not about pressure or expectation. It is about offering a space where people can choose to turn up, stay connected and keep moving forward, one day at a time.
By engaging regularly, many people find they are able to build confidence, develop healthier routines and maintain long-term abstinence as part of a genuine commitment to their recovery.
Everyone is welcome to get involved in a way that works for them, and support is always available.
Mutual Aid
Connected recovery support
Recovery grows through connection. Alongside the support available within our own programme, we champion the connection to external mutual aid and connection into the wider recovery community.
We believe people benefit from having access to different kinds of support, different voices of experience and different opportunities to build lasting recovery. For many people, that wider sense of connection plays an important part in staying stopped and moving forward.
Community and opportunity
More than a timetable
Scunthorpe Recovery Service offers more than a list of sessions. We create opportunities for people to connect, celebrate progress, build confidence, learn new skills and be part of a positive recovery community.
Across the year, this can include special groups, awareness sessions, community activities, workshops, celebrations and opportunities to connect with other recovery communities. It is all part of creating a service that feels alive, encouraging and rooted in real recovery.
